Schema, SEO and Why it’s Critical
Schema markup is code (semantic vocabulary) that you put on your website to help the search engines return more informative results for users. If you’ve ever used rich snippets, you’ll understand exactly what schema markup is all about.
Rankings are affected by the schema markup on your own site, but also by those who have your reviews, your listings and more. Reviews are critical to this, as well. Reviews on your own site, reviews on Google, especially. This video gives you some starting points to begin to improve how your site is ranked, indexed and viewed for better search results. You have some work to do.
If your site uses a platform such as WordPress, you are in luck because there are schema plugins that can help you with prompts to make the most of your post. Other proprietary content management systems (CMS) and site templates may require that you do it manually to your templates or have your web services provider help you with this. This is a bit nerdier than we usually dive into, but it’s super important. The tools listed here may help you or your web services provider get this going to benefit your search rankings and visibility, and ultimately – build your authority as a valued resource.
